The present invention relates to a hollow cylindrical insert designed for use in socket fusion welding of thermoplastic pipes. It features a cylindrical body made from materials that resist high temperatures and fusion with pipe at welding temperature, while having low thermal conductivity. The insert is configured to fit within a socket die with an outer diameter equal to or greater than the inner diameter of the pipe to be welded. Its purpose is to stop the pipe before it reaches the end of the socket die , preventing excessive melting and deformation while maintaining a smooth internal diameter for optimal water flow and system performance. Additionally, a method for socket fusion welding is described that primarily includes inserting the pipe into the socket die and the fitting on the spigot die for heating up pipe and fitting surfaces, followed by inserting the pipe into the fitting without twisting.
